Jury in Brooklyn dismissed the case, and found in favor of our client, the owner and operator of a taxi cab who was being wrongfully sued by a passenger in his taxi.

Great Job Kristen Reed, on obtaining an outstanding result in defending a taxi cab who was sued for millions of dollars after his vehicle struck the plaintiff’s car.  The plaintiff claimed she underwent an emergency c-section and spinal surgery but after a liability trial the jury dismissed the plaintiff’s case.

Kenneth Shapiro and Kristen Reed appeared in New York State Supreme Court, Kings County, for oral argument in opposition to a motion filed by the City of New York to dismiss the claim of a resident of a homeless shelter who was brutally assaulted and severely burned by other shelter residents.

Ken Shapiro obtained a verdict on behalf of 2 plaintiffs for false arrest and malicious prosecution in Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Shapiro reached a settlement with the City of New York on behalf of the plaintiffs then proceeded to trial against the accuser.

The Firm obtained a $600,000 settlement against a doctor for medical malpractice in failing to diagnose kidney disease.

Ken Shapiro obtained a verdict on behalf of 2 plaintiffs for false arrest and malicious prosecution in Brooklyn, NY. The verdict was for compensatory and punitive damages. The firm obtained a $600,000 settlement against a doctor for medical malpractice in failing to diagnose kidney disease.

The firm filed a lawsuit against Franklin Hospital Medical Center due to their failure to properly monitor an 87 year old female patient with Alzheimer’s disease, following shoulder surgery. The hospital’s neglect resulted in the patient falling and re-injuring her shoulder as well as sustaining additional injuries, including a laceration to her forehead and fractures to her leg and pelvis, which resulted in the need for further surgery.

Alicia Bartkowski settled a case with a Staten Island Nursing Home for their neglect of their nursing home resident. The resident was assessed as a fall risk and fell while at the nursing home sustaining injuries.

The firm filed a case against Winthrop University Hospital, in Nassau County, for medical malpractice and neglect of a patient who developed multiple infections and severe stage IV sacral and heel bedsores. The patient was an 83 year old male who was admitted to the hospital after suffering a heart attack.

The firm filed a lawsuit against Woodmere Rehabilitation Center and Mercy Hospital on behalf of a 77 year old male who developed bedsores on his sacrum, heel, and ear. The lawsuit alleges violations of the New York State Public Health as well as Federal Statutes and seeks punitive and compensatory damages

The firm filed a lawsuit in the Brooklyn Supreme Court against Sheepshead Bay Nursing Home, alleging violations of the New York State Public Health Law as well as various Federal Statutes. The lawsuit seeks punitive and compensatory damages on behalf on an 80 year old resident who sustained multiple bedsores as a result of the nursing home’s neglect.

New York Law Journal featured Phil Rizzuto’s settlement in Bronx County, Supreme Court, as one of the TOP Nursing Home settlements (#2) of 2012. The suit alleged Nursing Home abuse and neglect which led to bedsores, malnutrition and eventual death.

The New York Law Journal published an article about the Court's decision, issued by New York State Supreme Court, Judge Randy Sue Marber. The Court denied the Town's motion and permitted the case to proceed. Congratulations to Kristen Reed on defeating the Town of Hempstead's motion to dismiss our case against them for its failure to provide adequate security at Shell Creek Park in Island Park.

A Queens jury rendered a verdict of $190,000 against the New York City Department of Education for their failure to take any action to prevent a student from being injured by a bully after several complaints were made by the student and his mother.
